The mountains are at the heart of everything we do. The Mons Royale Care & Repair Program is one initiative to keep us on the path of protecting our playground.

The cuff repair kit is designed to be a simple way to help extend the life of your baselayers. By using it, you’ll be reducing the amount of textile waste that goes to landfill. Happy repairing.

BEFORE YOU START

GET A REPLACEMENT CUFF

We know that your cuffs take a beating, and will be the first thing to wear out on any garment. Purchase one of our replacement cuffs made from excess material/ offcuts, or cut a cuff off another garment that is no longer in-use. Cuffs are available in black, or lucky dip [either blue or pink, randomly allocated].

STEP ONE

PREPARE

To start, assemble your tools and materials. You will need: A sewing machine, scissors, pins, tailors chalk (or something to mark your cutting line), measuring tape and a replacement cuff. Make sure you have purchased or acquired the correct size cuff for your garment.

STEP TWO

MEASURE 13CM FROM THE CUFF

Lay out your top on a flat surface. Measure 13cm up from the cuff hem and draw a line. Pin both sides of the sleeve together horizontally along this line. This will help ensure a straight cut.

STEP THREE

CUT OFF THE OLD CUFF

With the sleeve held together by pins, cut through the old sleeve [both sides at the same time]. Try to cut close to the pins and as straight as possible.

STEP FOUR

PULL THE NEW CUFF OVER THE OLD SLEEVE

Turn your new cuff inside out and pull it over the old sleeve. Make sure that you line up the two sleeve edges and ensure that the side seams align. Pin accordingly, ready for sewing.

STEP FIVE

SEW THE TWO PIECES TOGETHER

Bring the garment to the sewing machine. For all machines use a 1cm seam allowance, sewing the sleeves together in the round. Use a small zig zag stitch on a domestic machine or a 5-thread over locker if you have one.

YOU’RE ALL DONE
