The Back Story
When founder, Hamish Acland heard about this epic location coming up for rental grabs he recognised the rare opportunity to open a flagship store in a town as widely respected by freeride and backcountry snowboarders and skiers as it is by mountain bikers.
Having had his own share of ski-bumming it up in Whistler during the first years of Mons Royale’s existence, Acland notoriously slept on couches and buried baked potatoes on Whistler Mountain at the beginning of each week for unlimited mountain lunches while lapping. He knew this town for what it is, a place still holding onto its roots of small community charm mixed with instigative spirit.
And with that, the contracts were signed and we set off getting the opening together in just a few short weeks!
